Club Expectations and New Member Information

Fall 2025 Cross Country

REGISTRATION, FEES, PAPERWORK:

Our program has reached capacity every season.  To allow more runners to participate we have a runner contract that must be completed by both parent and athlete.  We require each family to actively support this growing team.  This can be satisfied by being a sweeper or course marshal at two practices, volunteering at any race we put on (counts as both volunteer time slots), or making a donation to our ARR scholarship fund ($100).

Cross Country:

Program fee covers all costs during the full team season including: All meet entry fees, facility rentals, equipment, coaching, insurance.

This season we will have a tiered pricing structure to allow each family to decide what is most appropriate for their family's circumstances.  As a non-profit we are always focused on trying to grow the diversity of our team including engaging youth that may not be able to afford other opportunities.   We aim to remove the barrier of entry for those youth.

Price A  - $180 reflects the full price of a runner for the season. This level represents the full price of a season, including support for long-term planning, equipment, overhead, outreach, and creating new opportunities.

Price B - $75 is funded by generous contributions donated by our supporters to the greatest extent possible.  This price is designed for families that receive outside financial support (i.e. SNAP, free/reduced lunch, housing assistance).

Additional scholarship assistance may be available upon request.

Sibling DIscount of 10% available (Use code "SIBLING")

Uniform Fee - $30 Includes shorts and a singlet (All new runners need a uniform)

All runners must have a USATF athlete card by September 1st.

NEW FOR 2025:

During the first week of the season, Austin Rising Runners will hold an evaluation week. This gives coaches a chance to get to know each runner, understand their goals, and ensure the team reflects our core values of teamwork, effort, and kindness. It also helps us create a balanced team based on age and ability, so every runner can thrive. While this isn’t a tryout, we do expect all participants to contribute positively to the team environment. Runners who consistently show disruptive or unsafe behavior may be asked to not continue with the program to maintain a supportive experience for everyone.

We don’t have time requirements for new runners, but returning runners are expected to be able to complete a mile in under 10 minutes.

Expectations and Qualities During Evaluation Week:

Effort & Attitude: Show a willingness to try your best, listen to coaches, and support your teammates.

Respect & Behavior: Be kind, respectful, and follow directions—sportsmanship and safety come first.

Team Fit: Demonstrate a positive presence that aligns with our core values of teamwork, effort, and kindness.

Behavior Policy

To maintain a positive and safe environment for all runners, we follow these steps when behavioral issues arise:

First Incident: The runner will sit out the remainder of the practice to watch our expectations, and parents will be contacted to discuss the behavior.

Second Incident: Parents will be called for immediate pickup from practice.  Parent and child are welcome to watch the remainder of practice to view our expectations.  Behavior will be discussed with parent at the conclusion of practice.

Third Incident: The runner will be removed from the team to protect the well-being and success of all participants.

We appreciate your support in helping us keep the team respectful and welcoming for everyone.

Spring 2025 Track Season Is FULL

Our spring track team has reached capacity.  If you would like to be added to our waitlist please fill out the Runner Interest Form and indicate "Waitlist".

Thank you for your interest in becoming a member of the Austin Rising Runners.   First, no experience is necessary for your child to join.  Our coaches are well experienced, knowledgeable, and willing to work with any child that is interested in learning.  Our coaching staff is comprised of educators, professionals, and seasoned athletes.

We would love for all children to attend practice on Mondays and Wednesdays, AND attend as many races as possible. The more exposure to an activity, the more success.  However, even if your child can only attend once a week, we would happily welcome them to the team.  We will provide the opportunity for our children to race at least three times in various events for the fall season and at least three meets (~10 individual races) for the Spring Track season.
