Our spring track team will open registration on January 24th for returning runners and January 31st for new runners. Once we reach capacity, we will utilize a waitlist.
Thank you for your interest in becoming a member of the Austin Rising Runners. First, no experience is necessary for your child to join. Our coaches are well experienced, knowledgeable, and willing to work with any child that is interested in learning. Our coaching staff is comprised of educators, professionals, and seasoned athletes.
We would love for all children to attend practice on Mondays and Wednesdays, AND attend as many races as possible. The more exposure to an activity, the more success. However, even if your child can only attend once a week, we would happily welcome them to the team. We will provide the opportunity for our children to race at least least three meets (~10 individual races) for the Spring Track season.

We welcome all kids aged 7-14, plus middle schoolers after their school track season is complete, regardless of ability as long as they are willing to try a new sport and can listen to coaches (due to safety concerns of many children utilizing track space we ask that if your child needs additional attention to stay focused and not impede other children that the parent be available at practices). Athlete must be in at least 2nd grade to participate.
REGISTRATION, FEES, PAPERWORK:
Our program has reached capacity for the past five seasons. To allow more runners to participate we are adding in a runner contract that must be completed by both parent and athlete. Additionally this season we are requiring each family to actively support this growing team. This can be satisfied by being a volunteer at one practice(either calling out times or actively participating as an assistant to support some of our less fast runners), volunteering at our mini meet on on April 2nd (as a timer), being our clerking lead for a race at any of our meets, or making a donation to our ARR scholarship fund ($100).
Program fee will remain the same as last year and covers all costs during the full team season including: Meet entry fees, facility rentals, equipment, coaching, insurance. We have new uniforms this season and the uniform fee will be part of the registration fee for this season as all runners will require a new uniform.
This season we will have a tiered pricing structure to allow each family to decide what is most appropriate for their family's circumstances. As a non-profit we are always focused on trying to grow the diversity of our team including engaging youth that may not be able to afford other opportunities. We aim to remove the barrier of entry for those youth.
Price A - $325 reflects the full price of a runner for the season. This level represents the full price of a season, including support for long-term planning, equipment, overhead, outreach, and creating new opportunities.
Price B - $285 reflects the price for the individual runner for the season. This level is partially sponsored by funds generously contributed by our supporters to help families unable to afford the full price of the program.
Price C - $155 is funded by generous contributions donated by our supporters to the greatest extent possible. This price is designed for families that receive outside financial support (i.e. SNAP, free/reduced lunch, housing assistance).
Additional scholarship assistance may be available upon request.
Sibling DIscount of 10% available (Use code "SIBLING")
Uniform covers a singlet and shorts. We have new uniforms this season so the uniform fee($55) is included in the registration fee for this season.
Evaluation Week:
During the first week of the season, Austin Rising Runners will hold an evaluation week. This gives coaches a chance to get to know each runner, understand their goals, and ensure the team reflects our core values of teamwork, effort, and kindness. It also helps us create a balanced team based on age and ability, so every runner can thrive. While this isn’t a tryout, we do expect all participants to contribute positively to the team environment. Runners who consistently show disruptive or unsafe behavior may be asked to not continue with the program to maintain a supportive experience for everyone.
We don’t have time requirements for new runners, but returning runners are expected to be able to complete a mile in under 10 minutes.
Expectations and Qualities During Evaluation Week:
Effort & Attitude: Show a willingness to try your best, listen to coaches, and support your teammates.
Respect & Behavior: Be kind, respectful, and follow directions—sportsmanship and safety come first.
Team Fit: Demonstrate a positive presence that aligns with our core values of teamwork, effort, and kindness.
Behavior Policy
To maintain a positive and safe environment for all runners, we follow these steps when behavioral issues arise:
First Incident: The runner will sit out the remainder of the practice to watch our expectations, and parents will be contacted to discuss the behavior.
Second Incident: Parents will be called for immediate pickup from practice. Parent and child are welcome to watch the remainder of practice to view our expectations. Behavior will be discussed with parent at the conclusion of practice.
Third Incident: The runner will be removed from the team to protect the well-being and success of all participants.
We appreciate your support in helping us keep the team respectful and welcoming for everyone.
Spring Track Registration will open January 24th for Returning Runners, January 31st for new runners.
